“Grassroots Effort” on Pro Bono Service Propels Jenner & Block to Number One in Law360 Survey

In its survey of social impact leaders, Law360 honored Jenner & Block as the number one firm among those with 251 to 600 lawyers. In that group, Jenner averaged the most pro bono hours and had the highest participation percentages. Last year, nearly 90% of the firm’s 500-plus lawyers completed at least 50 hours of pro bono work, the minimum amount recommended in the American Bar Association.

Partner Debbie Berman, a Co-Chair of the firm’s Pro Bono Committee, said Jenner doesn't identify specific pro bono areas but rather lets individual lawyers decide what causes they want to support.

“It really is a grassroots effort for all the lawyers to do what pro bono is meaningful for them," she told Law360.

Pro bono service is one of five “pillars” in Law360’s list of Social Impact Leaders, a report that identifies the 100 firms that are taking the greatest strides on social responsibility. Overall, Jenner ranked 16 in the survey, which looks at racial and ethnic diversity, gender equality, employee engagement, and responsible business.
