Lucy described the NCP as "a soft law enforcement mechanism that can place companies' adverse human rights and environmental impacts under a magnifying glass."

"Over the past couple of years, we've seen more action from the NCPs than before," she said. "At the same time, around the world, we're seeing deregulation or scaling back of regulation in relation to ESG or human rights. These NCP findings serve as a reminder of the myriad avenues that still exist for stakeholders and affected parties to hold global companies accountable for corporate misconduct."
