Partners Michael McNamara and Kirsten Hicks Spira have been recognized as 2023 Top Professional Responsibility Lawyers by the Daily Journal for the second year in a row. The annual award highlights the “top performing attorneys in legal malpractice matters and judicial representation.”
Michael’s profile highlights his representation of leading law firms in their most sensitive professional liability matters including his defense of three different law firms in cases dealing with the fallout of Ponzi schemes.
“I’ve always been really moved by the fact that law is a profession, not just a trade or business. As professionals, we have ethics and canons of civility. It’s rewarding to be in a profession where truth and honesty matter, ethics matter. It’s not just trying to make the mighty dollar; it’s about doing the right thing,” he said.
Kirsten’s profile highlights her representation of large national and international law firms on professional responsibility matters including her work in a case that’s an example of a “growing trend by parties to allege ‘implied’ attorney-client privilege to ensnare law firms that are seen as having deep pockets.”
“When a major financial transaction goes awry, like accountants, lawyers now have targets on their backs. Being the person that stands up for them is something that I’m very proud to do. To have somebody in your own profession turn to you for help is humbling,” she said.
