Law360 Highlights Arrival of Jon Skladany to Jenner & Block
News
October 10, 2023
An article in Law360 notes the arrival of Special Counsel Jon Skladany, who joined Jenner & Block after serving for over a decade on key US House committees. The article observes that “Skladany had previously advised Republican lawmakers, working in roles that included chief counsel for oversight on the Financial Services Committee from 2019 to 2022 and staff director to the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform in 2017.” He is a member of the firm’s Congressional Investigations and Government Controversies and Public Policy Litigation Practices.
In the article, Jon is quoted as saying that he was eager to "return to the world of congressional oversight” and excited to reconnect with former Hill staff colleagues who now work at Jenner. Partner Emily Loeb, who chairs the Congressional Investigations Practice and co-chairs the Government Controversies and Public Policy Litigation Practice, told Law360 that Jon brings a unique set of skills: “While the oversight panel is the House's primary investigative committee, the Financial Services Committee ‘is also critically important in the execution of the House's oversight responsibilities,’ particularly in the areas of fintech, crypto and emerging technologies.” Jon observed that, today, congressional investigators are not just seeking information about federal programs, “they're asking questions directly to the private sector, about their policies and practices on things like ESG [environmental, social and corporate governance].” He added that he expects this trend to continue “throughout the remainder of this Congress."
