Keisha Stanford Analyzes Findings in Firm's Anti-Corruption Guide for Corporate Crime Reporter
News
March 19, 2024
In an in-depth interview with the Corporate Crime Reporter, Partner Keisha Stanford highlighted notable findings from the firm’s Anti-Corruption Enforcement 2023 Year in Review. The guide provides a concise and comprehensive analysis of key developments in anti-corruption laws and practices worldwide.
Keisha is Chair of the Anti-Corruption and FCPA Practice and served as Managing Editor of the guide, which was written by lawyers from across the firm’s offices. The guide’s recap of 2023 enforcement illustrates that the Department of Justice resolved fewer Foreign Corrupt Practices Act matters last year than in 2022 and imposed fewer corporate monitorships in 2023.
Keisha attributed the decline to several factors, including the long gestation between an investigation and its resolution and even presidential priorities. Enforcement activity ebbed during the Trump administration, she observed, while the Biden administration listed tackling corruption as a priority. Going forward, the numbers are predicted to increase.
There may be another reason for the downturn, she proposed: “Some of this might be the message getting across.”
