Jenner & Block’s Post-Dobbs Task Force Highlighted in The American Lawyer

Partners Ann O’Leary, Alison I. SteinAnne Cortina PerryApril A. OtterbergDawn L. Smalls, and Shoba Pillay spoke with The American Lawyer about the firm’s Reproductive Health Task Force, which consists of more than two dozen lawyers in diverse practice areas, from government controversies and public policy litigation to media and entertainment.

The implications of the Supreme Court’s decision to overrule Roe v. Wade are vast and complex. The task force was created to help companies, organizations, and individuals navigate the risks and potential liabilities now associated with exercising or supporting the exercise of reproductive rights in the shifting and conflicting legal landscape at the intersection of law and policy.

“We deeply understand the politics of reproductive rights and policy, and that it’s not going to be an entirely legal battle,” said Ms. O’Leary. “There will be political retaliation that will impact businesses. This will play out in the media.”

The Partners discussed the urgency of the topic, working “around the clock’” for clients in the technology, financial services and entertainment sectors and for large employers such as universities.”

The Partners are drawing on their years of experience in pro bono work and advocacy on reproductive rights.

“None of us are hiding from who we are, which is a group of lawyers deeply committed to equality in this country, and have been on the front lines of this fight. So it’s important to recognize that,” said Ms. O’Leary.
