“Preview of Argument – Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard College,” The Appellate Project

On September 14, 2020, Jenner & Block Partner Ishan K. Bhabha will join a discussion sponsored by The Appellate Project, a nonprofit working to empower a racially diverse, equitable, and inclusive appellate community. The discussion will take a closer look at Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard College. The First Circuit will hear oral arguments on the case on September 16. At issue is whether Harvard’s race-conscious admissions policy unlawfully discriminates against Asian American applicants in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The discussion will provide an overview of the case, including its background, the current legal landscape, and what to expect at oral argument. Mr. Bhabha is a co-chair of the Education Practice and a member of the Appellate and Supreme Court Practice. He has substantial experience representing and counseling institutions of higher education. The program is from 12:30 – 1:30 pm ET.
