“Novel Data Use,” Privacy and Security Academy

Jenner & Block Partner David P. Saunders will join a panel exploring the process by which companies decide to use and operationalize the use of data they are already collecting for purposes different than those for which the data had been collected. The panel will examine: (1) who are the stakeholders who need to be involved in the decision? (2) what are the legal and ethical considerations of the new use? (3) how do you operationalize a process for getting novel data uses approved? and (4) how do you determine whether the new use requires new or additional user disclosures? The virtual panel will be held on May 7, 2020, from 11:30 am– 12:30 pm Eastern. It is sponsored by the Privacy and Security Academy. Mr. Saunders (CIPP/US) is a member of the firm’s Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Practice. He has significant experience in conducting risk assessments, developing privacy programs, drafting privacy policies, performing due diligence for corporate transactions, negotiating vendor agreements and working with clients through data incident response.
