On July 16, Jenner & Block Partner Neil M. Barofsky will participate in a webinar with Amy Poster, Risk and Regulatory Lead at Horizon Globex. The webinar is being co-hosted by the Regulatory Compliance Association, Assistance for All Americans, 100 Women in Finance, and the Money Services Business Association. The presenters will unpack the oversight provisions of the CARES Act, including the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), and will share lessons learned from the 2008 Financial Crisis. The presentation will help compliance professionals navigate the current crisis by looking at oversight then and now, as well as the CARES Act oversight bodies. They will also comment on related topics like the independence of the Special Inspector General, fraud in the Small Business Association’s PPP, and what we can expect from the Congressional Oversight Commission and Pandemic Response Accountability Committee. He draws upon his time as the Special Inspector General of the Troubled Asset Relief Program, where he established and supervised the audit division that oversaw financial assistance provided to corporations after the 2008 financial crisis.
