Partner Annie Kastanek to Participate in the American Health Law Association’s Anti-Kickback Statute Webinar

Partner Annie Kastanek will participate in the American Health Law Association’s “The Limits of the Anti-Kickback Statute in Marketing Situations” webinar on September 10 to discuss her Seventh Circuit win in United States v. Sorensen.

Annie will join co-counsel Stephen Lee and client Mark Sorensen to discuss the prosecution, the appeal, and what the Seventh Circuit’s groundbreaking ruling means for practitioners and others in the healthcare industry navigating the limits of the Anti-Kickback Statute. The Seventh Circuit took the rare step of overturning Mr. Sorensen’s conviction under the Anti-Kickback Statute, establishing important new boundaries for the statute’s application to healthcare advertising and marketing. The victory was particularly noteworthy given the rarity of an appellate court overturning a criminal conviction.
