Brent Caslin is a partner in the Firm's Litigation Department.  He manages commercial and intellectual property disputes from Los Angeles and spends a significant amount of time near technology centers in Northern California, Western Washington, and Japan.

Mr. Caslin has tried civil and criminal cases.  He represents clients in state and federal courts, before domestic and international arbitration tribunals, and in administrative proceedings with government agencies.  Mr. Caslin’s experience includes matters in Asia, and in the U.S. States of California, Hawaii, Alaska, Arizona, Alabama, New York, Texas, Washington, and Massachusetts.  He has extensive experience with applications for preliminary relief, including temporary restraining orders, preliminary injunction applications, and writs of mandamus.

The cases handled by Mr. Caslin have involved a wide variety of industries and subject matters, including television distribution agreements, film financing structures, defense contracts, executive agreements (e.g., restrictive covenant enforcement), energy supply contracts, election disputes, wage and hour class actions, insurance and financial services claims, construction defects, toxic torts, product liability claims, corporate control disputes, and FCPA investigations.   Mr. Caslin has a particular interest in technology related matters, including disputes involving new media distribution, the Copyright Act, the Uniform Trade Secrets Act, and the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act.  He also serves as an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Pepperdine University School of Law in Malibu, California.

Although he is a U.S. trained trial lawyer, Mr. Caslin has substantial international experience, having lived and worked in Asia, Europe, and the United States.  He regularly handles cross-border disputes, particularly for companies from Japan and elsewhere in Asia.  In 2003, Mr. Caslin worked on international matters during a one year attorney exchange with the international law group at Mori Hamada & Matsumoto in Tokyo, Japan.  He has also served on the Executive Committee for the International Law Section of the California State Bar since 2004.

Mr. Caslin has been identified by trade publications as a "partner with a proven track record in trade secrets work" and as a "rising star" in Southern California.  He is one of two founding partners of Jenner & Block's Los Angeles office.
