Richard P. Campbell is of counsel in the Firm's Litigation Department. He is a member of the Antitrust Litigation and Labor and Employment Practices. Mr. Campbell is AV Peer Review Rated, Martindale-Hubbell’s highest peer recognition for ethical standards and legal ability.
Mr. Campbell has an extensive and varied range of experience in state and federal trial and appellate courts. He has represented clients in many of the most significant antitrust cases of the past thirty years, including Zenith v. Hazeltine, Illinois Brick, the uranium cartel litigation, Arkansas milk price fixing, folding cartons, corrugated containers, sorbates, and vitamins. He has also won major victories for plaintiffs in legal malpractice, employment discrimination, securities, constitutional and landfill construction actions and has successfully defended such clients as Sohio in land subsidence and employment discrimination actions, NCR in environmental, antitrust and copyright matters, British Petroleum in a mineral royalty action, Consumers Power in a breach of contract case, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange in patent and copyright litigation, and major home builders in mechanics' lien and construction litigation. In addition, Mr. Campbell has prosecuted and defended numerous bankruptcy adversary actions.
Among other matters, he obtained a $15,000,000 judgment for a client who had been defrauded out of a coal supply contract with TVA, won a $8,000,000 legal malpractice judgment, established important new law interpreting the Illinois Public Accounting statute of limitations, successfully defended a multi-million dollar claim of false imprisonment, and played a substantial role in prosecuting the sorbates and vitamins cartels as well as defense of the rooftop businesses against a misappropriation lawsuit brought by the Chicago Cubs.
Mr. Campbell graduated with highest distinction from Northwestern University where he was elected to Beta Gamma Sigma. He received his law degree from Harvard Law School. He is a member of the Illinois State Bar and the New Mexico State Bar (inactive).
