On December 6, Jenner & Block client Canadian National Railway Company (CN) closed on its acquisition of Iowa Northern Railway Company, a critical transportation network operating approximately 275 miles of track serving a mix of agricultural and industrial shippers in Iowa. The transaction involved the deposit of the controlling equity of Iowa Northern into a voting trust at closing, pending approval by the US Surface Transportation Board to the transaction.

With counsel from a Corporate Practice team, The Kroger Co. (NYSE: KR) and Albertsons Companies Inc. (NYSE: ACI) have entered into a definitive agreement with C&S Wholesale Grocers, LLC for the sale of select stores, banners, distribution centers, offices, and private label brands as a key step in their merger process.

McAtee will receive Housing Forward’s Corporate Partner Award at its 24th Annual Have a Heart Gala for their longstanding pro bono support of the organization. Housing Forward serves the needs of those in a housing crisis in Cook County, Illinois, helping them out of homelessness and into housing stability.

Starting in February, lawyers from Jenner & Block and our client Cboe worked together to host a series of clinics aimed at helping individuals renew their status under the federal Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Within two months of the clinics, eight people received their renewals from the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services.
