Steven Fabrizio is founder and Co-Chair of the Firm’s nationally recognized Content, Media & Entertainment Practice and widely regarded as one of the preeminent copyright and content protection litigators in the country.  Mr. Fabrizio litigates cases involving new technologies and advanced media, as well as “offline” and traditional media cases.  Mr. Fabrizio also regularly advises clients on content protection and enforcement strategies, and on sophisticated copyright issues involving the application of copyright to new technologies and business models.  Beyond copyright and content protection matters, clients seek Mr. Fabrizio’s representation on a wide variety of issues, including trade secret, computer security and privacy, and trademark.

Among other recognitions, both Chambers USA and Legal 500 have named Mr. Fabrizio as one of the leading lawyers in Washington, DC, in the categories of Media & Entertainment and Copyright, respectively; the Washington Business Journal has honored him as the “Best Intellectual Property Lawyer in Washington”; the Legal Times has selected him as one of the Top 10 “Leading Copyright and Trademark Attorneys”; and Washingtonian magazine has identified him as one of the “Stars of the Bar” in the field of Intellectual Property.  Under Mr. Fabrizio’s leadership, Jenner & Block’s Content, Media & Entertainment Practice was recognized as a Band 1 practice in Chambers USA’s Media & Entertainment Category in 2011 and one of only two firms nationwide to be ranked Tier 1 in the Legal 500 Intellectual Property-Copyright category.  The Firm was also named “Copyright Firm of the Year” by Managing Intellectual Property magazine for two consecutive years in 2010 and 2011.

Mr. Fabrizio is a member of the Firm’s Management Committee and pioneered the launch of the Firm’s “Advanced Media Lab,” which enables Firm attorneys to work hands-on with the latest products and technologies to better serve Content, Media & Entertainment clients.  Prior to joining Jenner & Block, Mr. Fabrizio was the Senior Vice President, Business and Legal Affairs, for the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).  The RIAA is the trade group that represents the United States recording industry.  While there, he established and led the RIAA’s litigation department and was a principal architect of the industry’s litigation strategies to combat online music piracy.
