Shaun is a partner focused on antitrust, patent, and commercial matters, specializing in the intersection of these areas of law. Most of his matters are cross-border involving multi-national companies. He counsels clients, leads investigations, and litigates in courts and arbitral forums.
Shaun's primary practice is antitrust law. He has represented a major European OEM in leniency proceedings arising from price-fixing, represented a Japanese client against price-fixing claims arising from the sale of cathode ray tubes, and obtained dismissal of exclusive dealing claims on behalf of a French electrical parts maker. He counsels clients through competition law issues, including joint ventures, distribution agreements, pricing strategies, marketing programs, legal compliance, and employee training. Shaun serves as Editor-in-Chief of the ABA Intellectual Property Law Section's Antitrust Issues in Intellectual Property Law (2024), a multi-jurisdictional guide. He was recognized as a Forty Under Forty by Chicago Lawyer, in which clients described him as "a creative problem-solver, a rigorous mind, a meticulous debater—kind and compassionate."
Apart from antitrust, Shaun leads patent infringement matters in life sciences and handles commercial disputes. He leverages his biochemistry background to help biopharmaceutical companies prevail in patent infringement litigation, including handling appeals to the Federal Circuit. His commercial disputes work includes contract breach, trade secrets, licensing, copyright, and fiduciary breach claims.
