Sally K. Sears Coder is a litigator. Businesses and organizations seek her counsel on significant commercial issues or disputes related to their business relationships, joint ventures and partnerships, contracts and licenses. Ms. Sears Coder also represents corporate and individual clients in high-profile white-collar criminal cases. She handles a variety of trial, pre-trial, and post-trial proceedings in state and federal courts, as well as in alternative dispute resolution forums.
In 2010, 2011 and 2012, Illinois Super Lawyer named Ms. Sears Coder a Rising Star in Business Litigation. She has co-authored webcast seminars and spoken on litigation readiness and ethics issues facing legal and accounting professionals. In addition, she has served as the editor of the American Bar Association’s Commercial & Business Litigation newsletter. Ms. Sears Coder is a member of the Firm’s Complex Commercial Litigation, International Arbitration and Bankruptcy Litigation Practices, and serves on the Firm’s Hiring Committee.
Ms. Sears Coder has an active pro bono practice, including helping a client gain asylum from persecution in Uganda and achieving acquittals for clients wrongfully charged with armed robbery and aggravated battery. She is a member of the Chicago Bar Association, the Commercial and Business Litigation Committee of the American Bar Association’s Section on Litigation, and the American Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division.
