Harry J. Roper is Chair of the Firm’s Patent Litigation and Counseling Practice and a Fellow of the prestigious American College of Trial Lawyers. He is nationally recognized as one of the foremost trial lawyers in the intellectual property field and has extensive experience as lead trial counsel in complex patent litigation cases. National and international companies seek his counsel on patent infringement matters related to such areas as computer software, biotechnology, medical devices, intraocular lenses and pharmaceuticals. Mr. Roper has argued more than 30 appeals in the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals.
Mr. Roper is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and has been consistently recognized by Chambers USA in the area of intellectual property. He was named a “Champion of Justice” in Lawdragon’s 500 Leading Litigators in America and was included among the “Top 100 Business Lawyers” in Illinois by Leading Lawyers Network. Mr. Roper has written and lectured extensively on patent infringement, trade secret, and antitrust litigation matters. He served on the Federal Circuit Bar Association’s Committee on Jury Instructions and has been a past Chair of the Intellectual Property Committee of the American Bar Association’s Section of Litigation. He has also been a frequent participant in the ALI-ABA series “The Trial of a Patent Case.”
