Casey T. Grabenstein is an associate in the Firm's Litigation Department.  He is a member of the Complex Commercial Litigation, Health Care Litigation, Product Liability, and Class Action and Class Action Practices.  Mr. Grabenstein represents clients in a broad range of litigation matters and has experience in all phases of litigation.

Mr. Grabenstein regularly practices in the area of health care litigation.  He has represented a large health insurance company in a number of disputes with providers and hospitals, including recently second-chairing an arbitration that resulted in a defense verdict.  Mr. Grabenstein also recently represented a major health insurance association in a putative nationwide class action.   Mr. Grabenstein routinely defends product manufacturers, distributors and retailers in nationwide product liability matters.  He has served as national counsel for a major car manufacturer, litigating product liability cases throughout the country.  Mr. Grabenstein recently served in the same role for a major pharmaceutical company, defending product liability cases in jurisdictions across the United States.  Mr. Grabenstein also practices in the area of class action litigation and is a member of the Firm’s Class Action practice group.  He has defended several consumer fraud and securities class actions.

Mr. Grabenstein maintains an active pro bono practice.  He recently served as lead counsel in an immigration trial that resulted in asylum for his client from Tanzania, and currently represents clients in Section 1983 actions, post-trial death penalty proceedings, and other criminal cases.  Mr. Grabenstein has served as an adjunct professor for the Pre-Trial Legal Interviews and Investigations course taught at Northwestern Law School.  During law school, Mr. Grabenstein was a member of the University of Illinois Law Review, was awarded the Rickert Award for Excellence in Academic Achievement, and received the CALI Award for Introduction to Intellectual Property.
