Jenner & Block Partner John F. Cox was recently named one of the Law Bulletin Publishing Company’s “40 Illinois Attorneys Under Forty to Watch” for 2005 for his outstanding mergers and acquisitions on behalf of companies such as General Dynamics, Honeywell International, and Elkay Manufacturing.
The prestigious annual list honors 40 young Illinois attorneys who display “intelligence, passion and a track record of success, a desire to help the community and willingness to work hard.”
The special profile described Mr. Cox as one of Chicago’s “top corporate lawyers” and highlighted some of his transactional successes, including Honeywell International’s speedy acquisition of a medical device manufacturer and a complex asset purchase by Elkay Manufacturing.
“My client group within Honeywell is…a group of results-oriented driven business people,” said Jeffrey Neuman, assistant general counsel for Honeywell in Mr. Cox’s profile. He noted that Mr. Cox’s “practical approach to problem-solving and good common sense has charmed one of the hardest-to-please groups of business professionals imaginable.”
Kathleen Deighan, corporate legal counsel for Elkay Manufacturing, also commended Mr. Cox for his “high-quality legal services, professionalism and dedication.”
In addition to his success as a corporate attorney, the publication noted that Mr. Cox is active with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Chicago, where he serves as a member of the Guild Board, and that he regularly contributes his time to the organization with pro bono legal advice.
